ABBADIA ARDENGA

Abbadia Ardenga, a winery deeply embedded in the history of Brunello di Montalcino, is truly special and well worth a visit—not only for its exceptional wines but also for its remarkable charm. The estate boasts a long and storied history, having belonged to the powerful Piccolomini family, whose members included Pope Pius II, renowned for commissioning the town of Pienza, during the 15th century. The noble family used Abbadia Ardenga as their private wine cellar. In 1902, Abbadia Ardenga received its first significant award for wines matured for over a year, recognizing estates that were already exporting their products beyond Italy’s borders. The estate as we know it today underwent a major renovation in 1934, marked by the update of its Statute, and it has been managed by the Ciacci family for the past three generations.
