FRATELLI PUDDU

Fratelli Puddu: A Legacy Rooted in Cannonau and Sardinian Soul

Since 1976, the Puddu family has been devoted to crafting wines that reflect the essence of their land—Oliena, in the heart of Sardinia. What began as a dream has grown into a family-run estate deeply intertwined with the region’s culture, climate, and traditions.

The winery sits in the shadow of Monte Corrasi, the highest peak of the Supramonte, just miles from the crystal-clear waters of the Gulf of Orosei. This dramatic landscape of dolomite limestone, Mediterranean scrub, and wild herbs not only defines the scenery—it shapes the wines. The vineyards thrive in decomposed granite soils with limestone veins, under a climate that swings between warm days and cool nights. This natural rhythm enhances the aromatic complexity and freshness of the grapes, especially Cannonau, Sardinia’s flagship variety.

Cannonau is the soul of Fratelli Puddu. Grown organically on 30 hectares of vineyards, these grapes find their finest expression in Nepente di Oliena—a prestigious subzone of the Cannonau di Sardegna DOC, renowned for producing wines of depth, balance, and unmistakable character. The estate also cultivates 15 hectares of olive trees, embracing local varieties such as Nera di Oliena and Bosana, further rooting the family’s commitment to the land.

While tradition is the foundation, innovation is embraced with equal passion. The modern, functional winery is a space where generations collaborate and ideas evolve. Alongside classic expressions of Cannonau, Fratelli Puddu explores new frontiers: a blanc de noir vinified from Cannonau in white, and a refined brut rosé sparkling wine—all born from the same iconic grape.

Each bottle from Fratelli Puddu is more than a wine—it is a story of family, of land, and of the harmony between them. With a philosophy grounded in quality and respect for nature, the winery continues to honor its past while boldly shaping its future.
