Aromas of camphor, leather and ripe black-skinned fruit emerge from the glass. The dense, chewy palate offers fleshy black plum, kirsch, licorice and a candied note alongside close-grained, drying tannins. The heat of evident alcohol dominates the close, throwing it off somewhat off balance

Vineyard location: The vineyards on the Abbadia Ardenga estate situated on the Sienese slope of the hill of Montalcino. South-west exposure. The average yield is 50 quintals/Ha
Production Notes
The fermentation happens in stainless steel talks, at controlled temperature for a period of 18 days. After that the wine is aged for 36 months in Slavonian oak barrels followed by 18 months and stainless steel thanks and 18 months in the bottle.
Winemaker Notes
Brunello di Montalcino Riserva in only produced in exceptional vintages, awarded with five stars. In these vintages, the wine is very complex and well-structured. Hence, as described in the Production Regulations, it needs a longer ageing period to best express all its characteristics.

Abbadia Ardenga, a winery which is part of the history of Brunello di Montalcino, is extremely special and definitely worth visiting, not only for its products but also for its outstanding charm. The estate has a very long history, having once belonged to the powerful Piccolomini family, whose members included Pope Pius II, responsible for the construction of the town of Pienza, a masterpiece of the Renaissance.
