Wine Profile
Wine Profile / Tasting Notes
Light ruby red color. The bouquets is fresh and lively with hints of red fruit, flowers and spices. On the palate the wine is fine and dry, elegantly tannic and astringent, which is a fundamental characteristic of this grape.
Vineyard Notes
Soil: mostly Tufa, Clay and Calcareous. The vines have an average age of 15 years. The vineyards have a south-South/East exposure at an altitude of 220 meters above sea level.
Production Notes
Refined for 4-5 months in stainless steel tanks before bottling. 2,000 bottles produced per year.
Winemaker Notes
Grignolino is a grape native of Monferrato, which is now back in vogue after a long period of decline. This cultivar is essentially unique to Piedmont. Grignolino was once tipped to be to Barolo and Barbaresco what Beaujolais is to Burgundy, a light-hearted, affordable alternative to the region's more serious, expensive wines, such as Barolo and Barbaresco.
Food & Wine Pairing
To be paired with white meats, and surprisingly good with fish!
More Information
The company activity is mainly concentrated in the production of wines, from the autochthonous ones such as the Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato Docg, the real flagship of the area, the Grignolino d'Asti Doc, the Barbera d'Asti Docg, up to experience the rediscovery of an ancient vine called Slarina, almost unknown and non-existent. An important novelty is also the first production of 100% Riesling.
