Wine Profile
Wine Profile / Tasting Notes
The high acidity of Aglianico makes it a perfect grape for the production of crispy and very food friendly rosato wines. The wine is lively and delicate with white roses and fresh red fruit notes, but at the same time it is structured and it shows all the complexity of this beautiful varietal.
Vineyard Notes
Vineyard location: Torre le Nocelle in Avellino. Soil type: compact clay. Altitude: 500 meters above sea level. Training system: Guyot. Density: 4.000 plants per hectare. Production: 40,000 kg per hectare.
Production Notes
Vinification in white with soft pressing, fermentation at controlled temperatures of 16°/18°c. Refined in stainless steel and in the bottle before release.
Winemaker Notes
Vigna dei Lupi was born in 2007 from a group of friends’ desire to invest time and resources into a project of excellence, unique for its quality and image. The winery is located in the Avellino province (Campania region – South of Italy). The estate extends for twelve hectares (from which the winery names “DODICIETTARI”), of which nine planted with grapevines.
Food & Wine Pairing
Sausage, pizza, fresh cheeses and salami. Great with your favorite cutting board cheeses.
Other Notes
Aglianico “alli-yawn-nico” is a full-bodied red wine which is found almost exclusively in Southern Italy in the regions of Campania and Basilicata. Young Aglianico wines are known for strikingly savory flavors of leather, white pepper, black fruits and cured meat that when aged, develop soft dusty aromas of dried figs and sun-tanned leather. For those of us who are a fan of rustic, earth-driven wines, Aglianico is a star.
