Wine Profile
Wine Profile / Tasting Notes
Taurasi is also known as the Barolo of the south! The elegance and structure of this wine is reminiscent of what great Nebbiolo based wines can deliver. Ruby red with garnet reflections this is a very complex wine, with aromas and flavors of roses, red cherry, forest fruit, tobacco and spices. Great structure with balanced acidity and well integrated tannins.

Winemaker Notes
Drink or keep 10+ years. Taurasi is a DOCG wine whose production is allowed in the province of Avellino, and takes its name from the town of the same name. The etymology of the name “Taurasi” comes from Taurasia, a little village that was conquered by the Romans in the 80 a.C. 100% Aglianico, cultivated in the area of Torre le Nocelle, near Avellino. At Dodiciettari, the plants, 4000 stumps per hectare, are trained with Guyot method and reach a production of 60 quintals per hectare. The manual harvest is planned in November, with an attentive selection of the grapes. It is then followed by maceration and fermentation at a controlled temperature.
Food & Wine Pairing
Roasted meats, spicy dishes, truffles and mature cheeses.
Other Notes
Vigna dei Lupi was born in 2007 from a group of friends’ desire to invest time and resources into a project of excellence, unique for its quality and image. The winery is located in the Avellino province (Campania region – South of Italy). The estate extends for twelve hectares (from which the winery names “DODICIETTARI”), of which nine planted with grapevines.
