Wine Profile
Wine Profile / Tasting Notes
Ruby red in color. A pleasant, distinctive, fruity and harmonious wine, typical of the Sangiovese grape variety with typical notes of red fruit, violets, and hearty tones. In the mouth, the wine is fresh and lively with a good structure and finish.
Vineyard Notes
Vineyard location: on the hills of Montalcino from vineyards located at 280 meters above sea level with an exposition on the southern side of the property. The training system is spurred cordon and the averages yield is 70 quintals/Ha.
Production Notes
The fermentation happens in stainless steel tanks, at a controlled temperature for a period of 16 days. After that, the wine is left to mature for 4 months in Slavonian oak barrels followed by 8 months of bottle aging prior to release.
Food & Wine Pairing
Best when paired with meat sauces, mushrooms, truffle, veal, chicken and pork.
Other Notes
Abbadia Ardenga, a winery which is part of the history of Brunello di Montalcino, is extremely special and definitely worth visiting, not only for its products but also for its outstanding charm. The estate has a very long history, having once belonged to the powerful Piccolomini family, whose members included Pope Pius II, responsible for the construction of the town of Pienza, a masterpiece of the Renaissance.
