Wine Profile
Wine Profile / Tasting Notes
Intense ruby red with purple hues, brilliant reflections, this beautiful Rosso di Montalcino, the Brunello younger brother, opens with aromas of ripe fruit such as morello cherries, followed by toasted notes of coffee and cocoa and a hint of licorice. In the mouth it is perfectly balanced with great freshness and drinkability and a silky tannic texture. A great expression of Sangiovese from a 5 stars vintage.
Vineyard Notes
Vineyard location: South-west Montalcino. Soil type: rich well draining sandy with good presence of calcium. Altitude: 300 meters above sea level.
Production Notes
Fermentation at controlled temperatures in stainless steel for 12 days, followed by a 12 day maceration and subsequent malolactic fermentation. Refined for 6 months partly in wooden barrels made of Slavonian oak and partly in French tonneaux.
Food & Wine Pairing
First courses such as pappardelle pasta with meat sauce, and second courses such as roasted chicken and other white meats. Also great with charcuterie and seasoned cheeses, like pecorino Toscano.
More Information
Il Bosco di Grazia is a small family-run farm, managed by sisters Elisabetta and Giulia Rubegni, and their mother Maria Grazia. Grazia means “grace” in Italian and the winery name, Il Bosco di Grazia, translates to Grazia’s Forest. The name celebrates Mamma Grazia and the graceful wooded land bordering the vineyard. Visiting the winery tucked away in the Tuscan countryside is an Italian adventure I’m glad I got to experience. I am even more pleased that I can share their elegant wines with you.
